Details

The Lecture Series is an academic programme of the UZH Blockchain Center to delve into new research ideas and results, and encourage interaction of its members with highly recognised academic experts in the field. We also resort on the interest of the Blockchain Ecosystem in the Zurich area which also nurtures further participants.

The lecture is a public event for the University community and eventually people from industry.

Speakers

Dr. Moser Thomas

Dr. Thomas Moser is Alternate Member of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank and deputy head of the SNB’s III. Department. He is also a member of the Managing Committee of the Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen and a member of the Board of Directors of Orell Füssli Holding Ltd.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Bechtold

Stefan Bechtold is Professor of Intellectual Property and Head of the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Stefan Bechtold’s research interests include intellectual property, Internet, privacy, telecommunications, and antitrust law, law & technology, as well as law & economics.

Prof. Dr. Philipp Sandner

Philipp Sandner is head of the Blockchain Center at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He is a member of the Fintech Council (FinTechRat) of the Federal Ministry of Finance and also engaged in the EU Blockchain Observatory. He is founding member of the German Blockchain Association, the International Token Standardization Association and the Multichain Asset Managers Association.

Jens Frankenreiter

Jens Frankenreiter is the Postdoctoral Fellow in Empirical Law and Economics at the Ira M. Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership at Columbia Law School.
Jens’s research and teaching focus on business law, in particular corporate and contract law, and the functioning of legal institutions. 

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Härdle

Wolfgang K. Härdle has been director of the Ladislaus von Bortkiewicz Chair of Statistics at the Department of Economics and Business Administration at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin since 1992. He is Coordinator of the “Collaborative Research Center 649: Economic Risk”. Since October 2013 he has also headed the newly established International Research Training Group, a joint project with Xiamen University in China.

Suzanne Tolmeijer

Suzanne Tolmeijer is a PhD student, in Department of Informatics, University of Zurich. She joined the DDIS research group in September 2017. Before this, she did a Bachelor in Lifestyle Informatics and Master in Artificial Intelligence at VU University Amsterdam. During her studies, she worked as a functional analyst at a software development company, as well as a teaching assistant at the VU.
