[Industry talk–Actus]Smart Financial Contracts – The Future of Capital Markets

Details

Dr. oec. Willi Brammertz

Abstract

We will discuss the concept of smart contracts following the definition of Szabo and compare it to its current use in the blockchain community. From there we will develop the concept of smart financial contracts and relate it to the open-source standard ACTUS (www.actusfrf.org). We demonstrate its wide use independent of any technology, especially their digital nature which makes them the ideal type of digital assets. Finally, we will discuss tokenization and its relationship to smart financial contracts.

Dr. oec. Willi Brammertz

Willi Brammertz dedicated more than 30 years to the advancement of financial transparency, inclusion and efficiency as an entrepreneur in finance & banking. Starting with his PhD thesis he worked on the algorithmic nature which led to the “periodic table of finance” which is now part of the open-source ACTUS (https://www.actusfrf.org/dictionary) where he holds the chair of the Users Association.
As an entrepreneur, he was the co-founder of IRIS (successfully sold to Wolters Kluwer) and father of one of the now world’s leading financial analysis systems riskpro™. Today he is the founder and managing director of Ariadne Business Analytics and the main author of the book “Unified Financial Analysis – the missing links of finance” (Wiley, 2009) which underpins his entire theoretical thinking. Furthermore, he’s a lecture at the University of Zurich / ETH Zurich teaching the “The Risk & Finance Lab”. In the last few years he introduced this concept successfully into the world of crypto, blockchain and distributed ledger.
