Blockchain Governance Initiative Network (BGIN) provides an open and neutral sphere for all stakeholders to deepen common understanding and to collaborate to address issues they face in order to attain sustainable development of the blockchain community. It is a unique global network of leading thinkers from industry and academia in the field of blockchain.
The Blockchain Governance Initiative Network (BGIN) takes a leading role to design healthy governance where stakeholders develop a common understanding, enhance dialogue, and work together and make a real positive impact for the ecosphere and society at large. To serve the above purpose, BGIN tentatively aims at
- Creating an open, global and neutral platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue
- Developing a common language and understandings among stakeholders with diverse perspectives
- Building academic anchors through continuous provision of trustable documents and codes based on an open source-style approach
The Blockchain Center of the University of Zurich (https://www.blockchain.uzh.ch/) will host block #6 of the Blockchain Governance Initiative Network (https://bgin-global.org/). BGIN #6 continues to bring voice to individuals focused on governance for digital economic networks. The Block #6 Program Committee is curating the meeting themes and speaker list.
While the programme is hybrid, we strongly suggest people to participate in the programme onsite, as there will be unique networking opportunities.
The programme and speakers will be announced by 24th June 2022

UZH BLOCKCHAIN CENTER
UZH is the largest University in Switzerland by raw student number and programme areas (having seven Faculties); it is constantly ranked as the first general University in Switzerland and among the top-100 Worldwide. Its inherently broad expertise is reflected in the perspectives to blockchain across Faculties.
With informal activities since 2017, UZH BCC is a UZH Competence Centre since 2019. 21 UZH Professors from the most varied areas (Business, Economics, Finance, Informatics, Law, Social Sciences and Mathematics) and 10 external Professors give it a rare multidisciplinary approach in the field. In terms of members, range of expertise and activities developed, it is the largest academic initiative in Switzerland, a renowned Worldwide blockchain hub. In 2021, UZH was ranked first in Europe (4th, Worldwide) by Coindesk University Ranking.
By mandate of the University Board, the roles of the UZH BCC are: (1) To foster and coordinate research activities in blockchain and related technologies; (2) To create and nurture a complete education programme (ranging from university students to practitioners) in the space; (3) To act as the single point of contact between industry initiatives, peer institutions and governments with the University of Zurich in blockchain. UZH BCC has been invited repeatedly as part of official delegations of the University of Zurich, Canton of Zurich, and the Swiss Federal Government abroad (JP, SK, DE, ZA). Among its active collaborations, it includes key players of the Swiss blockchain ecosystem, and policy makers (e.g., Swiss National Bank, Switzerland’s Central Bank, European Central Bank).
